A native southerner, I have over twenty years of experience in marketing and communications, including my own business, Norton Carro Communications. I have edited textbooks and been a non-fiction ghostwriter, as well as a regular copyeditor for Gannett Publishing. I received my Bachelor of Arts, with Honors, from Vanderbilt University, where I currently (and proudly) work.
I live in Nashville with my husband and blue heeler mutt. For years I was a closet fiction writer while raising three daughters. Mt. Moriah’s Wake is my first novel, coming out in July 2021. I also write a weekly blog, In the Middle, about life in the sandwich generation and am currently working on another novel, Bagels at Nine.
Norton Carro Communications (see portfolio) was the silver lining to a corporate layoff in the early 1990s. Many of my early clients had been in healthcare, like me, and started businesses and engaged my help. I don't know that I would ever have sought to start my own business: I doubt I possess enough of the enterpreneurial spirit within me, but NCC gave me a flexibility in time at a point in my life when I was having little children. It was a win-win. I eventually branched out from healthcare to academia and that is my happy spot. I still carry a backpack after all.
